“Romance in Manhattan,’* which will be shown at the Hawera Opera House on Tuesday, deals with the experiences of an immigrant youth who jumps overboard from a ship and enters illegally. His fight for existence and his romance with a sympathetic chorus girl makes the plot In conjunction with the film * # # • a revue show,“Surprise Packet of 1935,” will be staged by Hawera performers, including a number who took part in the , recent “Aladdin” production.. « # # '• “The Life of Jenny Lind,” or ,*W. Lady’s Morals,” is a vivid story of love versus

duty and gives opportunity to a famous opera singer to show her voice. It will come to the Hawera Opera House on Thursday. *. • • • “Gold Diggers of 1935,” coming on Saturday to the Hawera Opera- House, is a musical spectacle depicting the efforts of a scheming trio to obtain money from a wealthy but mean old woman. * * # •. “Vagabond Lady,” which will be shown

at the Grand Theatre, Hawera, on Tuesday, is the story of the fun-loving’ son of a millionaire department store owner who returns home from a world cruise in a sailing sloop just in time to upset the marriage plans of his brother. *#. • * “Rumba,” which will be presented at the Grand Theatre, Hawera, on Wednesday, is a poignant love story of a tempestuous dancer and a madcap heiress. During the unravelling of the plot eight new dance steps are presented. ■ # • * ''■•'■-■• “Mr. What's His Name,” is one of the two attractions for the Grand Theatre, Hawera, on Saturday. It tells the story of a millionaire who loses his memory in a train smash and marries a hairdresser. Complications come when his wife, who has married another main, discovers his existence. “Chinatown Squad” concerns the murder of : an agent for a revolutionary government in China and the solution of the mystery after numerous false clues have been laid. FILMS AT STRATFORD. “Student Tour,” .for the Plaza Theatre, Stratford, oh Wednesday is a merry comedy centring»round a touring .college rowing team which meets many difficulties in its attempt to win the international college rowing trophy. “Car 99,” to be shown at the Plaza Theatre; Stratford, on Thursday is a drama ,of crime and mystery, spiced with action and thrills. *;# ♦ • “West Point of the Air,” to be screened on Saturday at the Plaza Theatre, Stratford, deals with a young man whose conceit almost brings disgrace to the air corps until parental love brings him to his sehses. * * • • The plot of “I Am A Thief,” to be shown at the King’s Theatre, Stratford, on Saturday with the exciting film “Saddle Buster,” concerns a murderous band of international crooks who try to steal a priceless set of diamonds*
