PROHIBITION REJECTED

JUNIOR DEBATERS’ DISCUSSION. The subject that “the complete prohibition of the sale of intoxicating liquors should be introduced” was exhaustively and humorously discussed by a meeting of junior debaters at New Plymouth, ..last night and those present were so equally divided on the subject that it fell to the judge, Mr. R. A. Gilbert, to give his casting vote against the motion. The teams were led for the affirmative by Messrs. C. W. Putt and L. Therkleson and for the negative by Messrs. C. Evans and G. C. Webster. In thanking Mr.'. Gilbert for acting as chairman and adjudicator, Mr. Warren remarked that the club much appreciated his individual criticisms, and that he was sure each member would benefit by his remarks.
