MEETING AT URENUI

DECISION OF POWER BOARD. FURTHER RETICULATION WANTED. In response to a request by the North Taranaki provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union the Taranaki Power Board yesterday agreed to hold a meeting at Urenui to discuss the reticulation of the Urenui district to Waitoitoi-Puke-aruhe. The union said it understood that sufficient promises were forthcoming to warrant this extension and if the meeting were arranged the settlers would undertake to have a full attendance. The engineer, Mr. B. H. Goldsmith, reported that the number of consumers at July 31 was 2457. During the month 1,082,290 units were generated. The largest daily output was 36,400 units on July 26, and the maximum demand of 2088 kilowatts occurred on July 27. Installations connected during the month (including tljpse in Clifton) were as follow, figures for the corresponding period last year being given in parentheses: Milking ■motors, 13 (0); .industrial motors, 10 (5); stoves, 2 (3); water-heaters, 2 (3); pumps, 2 (0); lighting and heating (new), 110 (8); lighting and heating (extensions), 20 (8). Service work was proceeding in Clifton, and a considerable number of new services were being called for in the main area, including 12 for new milking motors. Reviewing the progress of reticulation in Clifton, the engineer said this to date included 125 lighting,services, 16 milking motors, three stores, four water-heaters, two pumps and 11 ordinary motors including factories. There was another week’s work in putting in the services authorised. It was satisfactory to see the increase of milking motors in the old area. *

The financial statement showed £3079 revenue for the month made up as follows: Sale of goods, £ll9 14s; sale of current, £2687 10s 8d; installations, £4B 3s 4d; installation interest, £3 13s 8d; rates, £lO 7s Hd; rent, £lB 12s; service lines, £165 Ils lOd; consumers’ deposits, £9; fixed deposit interest, £3 16s 9d; refund court costs, £3 16s 4d; sundries, £9 6s 6d. The accounts to pass amounted to £1567, leaving an overdraft of £3509, a reduction from £5021 the previous month. The supplementary loan showed a credit of £3503. The Clifton loan showed a credit of £1750 after payment of accounts for £1348.
