SUBSCRIPTION LIST OPENED. - - - • 4-'- J,. HANDSOME SUM ALREADY GIVEN. When the president of the Windsor Park Society, Stratford, Dr. Doris Gordon, explained at: the annual meeting of the society ' last week the need for a foot'bridge across the Patea River linking the north and south sides of the park area she stated that she had offers of £25 towards the estimated cost of £l2B. A subscription list has now been opened and donations to the value of over £6O have been received already. The aim of the society is to beautify both banks of the Patea River east of the railway bridge, and a connection between the two banks is regarded as a necessity if the public is to benefit fully by all that the completed park will offer. , The society is an incorporated body and the park has been made possible by the keen interest of a number of Stratford citizens who guaranteed finance. The land? is leased to the society by the borough council for 21 years with-/ right of renewal, provision being made in the agreement for the society to carry on indefinitely. If the society ceased to function for any reason the assets, in- j eluding the proposed bridge, would revert to the borough council. . The ten years’ guarantors to the developmental and maintenance fund are Mesdames O. M. Curtis, F. Cook, F. Masters and H. Berman, Dr. Doris Gordon and Messrs. R. H. White and A. H. Trotter.
