OKATO CHAMPIONSHIPS. QUALIFYING ROUNDS PLAYED. The qualifying rounds for the Okato club championship were played during the week-end. The scoring was quite good, J. L. Power doing 84, while Paul junr. and E. Julian returned 85’s. The following were the qualifiers:— Senior: J. L. Power 84, E. Julian,'H. C'. Paul 85, D. A. Fox 88, C. Putt 89. A. Haylock 91, A. L. Williams 93, E. H. Gibson 93. Junior: Les. Julian 96, A. P. Edwards 97, E. B. Corbett 99, B. B. Tui 101, A. Gibson 102, J. Donald 103, J. A. Power 104, S. Wood 107. Smith 130, Miss L. Knight 132, Miss M. Johnstone 136, Mrs. McKenna 146. It is expected that the final for the Johnstone Cup will be played to-day. The players concerned are J. Power and Mrs. J. L. O’Sullivan v. M. Chong and Mrs. J. Power, and an interesting and close contest should result. J. L. Power, the club captain, is perhaps the club’s most consistent player. Though not a long driver, he displays good judgment with his approach shots, and therein lies his advantage over his opponents. His partner, Mrs. O’Sullivan, is one of the juniors on the 40 mark. Chong and Mrs. Power should prove a good combination. Chong, ' who is a junior and a first year player, was e natural left hander, but changed to right, and steady practice is proving the wisdom of the change. Mrs. Power is undoubtedly the club’s best women’s player and is consistent all round the course. MEDAL ROUND AT WAITARA. ONLY FIVE COMPLETE COURSE. A medal match was played at Waitara on Thursday. Only five players completed the 18 holes and the scores were: F. Chittenden, 103-22-81; F. Locke, 108-2 b -82- E. A. George, 96-13-83; E. Beckbessinger, 114-26—88; J.
