Anna Neagle has signed a long term contract with British and Dominions. * « * * Maureen O’Sullivan has a role with Greta Garbo in “Anna Karenina.” # # * * Edna May Oliver, who scored with her performance as Betsey Trotwood in “David Copperfield,” will play the part of Miss Press in "Oliver Twist.” * * * * Marie Prevost, Ben Turpin, Chester Conklin and Ford Sterling are making a combined reappearance in a Warner two-reeler called “Keystone Hotel.” All of them are old Keystone Comedy players. i * * * * Hollywood is preparing to welcome a new juvenile aertess Carol Ann Beery, five-year-old adopted daughter of Wallace Beery, who will make her film debut in “China Seas.” * * * *

Elissa Landi is giving a farewell cocktail party. She is off to France to make a picture. She is busy ■ denying elopement rumours, and is planning to appear in Martin Flaven’s play, “Tapestry in Grey,” next winter on Broadway.

Following the completion of scenes for the Gaumont-British Picture, “Soldiers Three,” director Barkas and his unit will leave India and take the boat across the Indian Ocean to South Africa. There they will start filming sequences to be included in the long awaited screen version of the life of Cecil Rhodes. » # # ♦

Rene Clair will direct his first English picture for London Film Productions. The star of this film will be Robert Donat, whose work in “The Private Life of Henry VIH.” led to his brilliant rendering of the title role in “The Count of Monte Cristo.” The title of the new London film in which he will take the lead has not yet been announced. Rene Clair stated that he has been anxious to direct Robert Donat ever since he saw him on a visit to London in the stage play “The Sleeping Clergyman.” He regards. Robert Donat as one of the greatest young male actors yet discovered for the international screen.
