After a setback towards the end of the second week the demand widened and the market closed firm, nrices tending in the sellers’ favour. Compared with tne May closing rates Merinos of a greasy warp character were 10 per cent, higher. Purely Continental types and topmaking fleeces were 5 to 7J per cent, higher, fine and bulky scoureds 5 per cent., broader styles 5 per cent, and inferior and faulty sorts from par to 5 per cent. Fine and medium crossbreds were helped by the recent Russian support and were 10 to 15 per cent, higher and slipes 7i per cent. The total catalogued was 120,164 bales and home buyers bought 59,000 bales and thd Continent 40,500 bales, while 72,000 bales were held. The total Australian sales were 45,000 bales and New Zealand 45,000 bales. At the final sales to-day 7704 bales were offered, including 2434 bales from New Zealand, and about 4414 bales from Australia and New Zealand were sold. New Zealand quotations: Slips half-bred lambs, Feilding, top price, 13d, average 104 d. ■ . On the Bradford tops market Merinos are easier but crossbreds are firm.
