DAIRY PRODUCE
PRICES REMAINING STEADY. BUTTER MARKETS FIRMNESS. Compared with the prices ruling at the same time last year, London prices fox* butter at present are 15s in advance and cheese is lower by Is to Is 6d. Both markets are quiet, little activity being reported, but butter shows a distinctly firm note. Messrs. Newton King Ltd., through their principals, Messrs. R. and W. Davidson, Glasgow, reported that salted butter is quoted at from 88s Cd to 90s, compared with 88s to 90s last week and 73s at the same time last year. Unsalted is quoted at 90s to 955, compared with 88s to 925, and 80s. The market is firm but quiet. White cheese is quoted at 43s 6d to 445, compared with 44s to 44s 6d last week and 48s last year. Coloured cheese quotations range from 43s to 43s 6d, compared with 44s to 455. Messrs. Collett and Co. Ltd. report finest butter quotations at 89s to 90s, first grade being a shilling lower. White cheese is quoted at 44s to 45s arid coloured at from 43s to 445. A. S. Paterson and Co. Ltd. advise butter at 89s to 90s and cheese (white) at 43s 6d, coloured at 435. Other quotations are Australian 87s, and Danish 82s f.0.b., 103 s landed.
Dairy produce minimum prices have been fixed at butter 10 5-Bd, cheese sd, equivalent to &6s 4d and 44s c.i.f. respectively.
