Six races have been held for the bowl, and there will be two more, one of 25,. miles and one of 36 miles. Early in August the club will hold its 62 miles road race. HUGHES TO MEET JARVIS. A proiessional boxing contest to be staged at Hawera on Wednesday .night between Archie Hughes, Whangarei, and Jack Jarvis, Taranaki, promises to be one of the premier contests of Taranaki. Both boxers are reported to be very fit and each can be expected to give of his best. Hughes, who has had three good wins recently, one over Johnny McKay and another over Percy Rayner, holder of the New Zealand featherweight title, is expected to arrive at Hawera on Monday. Jarvis has returned from Hastings after his victory over Stock. In the supporting bouts the match committee has endeavoured to place in the ring as many new boxers as possible, and the public can expect keen contests. The box plan opens at Miss Blake’s, Hawera, to-day. BEBE DANIELS AT KAPONGA.
