SESSION OF PARLIAMENT NO IMPORTANT POLICY BILLS. OPENING ON AUGUST 29 LIKELY. CIVIL'SERVICE SALARY CUTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, July 19. An indication that the coming session of Parliament is to open on August 29 and is likely to be “short and sweet” was given by the Hon. Adam Hamilton on his arrival to-day on a brief visit. He said that fell the main problems, had been disposed of last session and .he did not know of any important policy matters, that would be brought down next session. . The session would be a normal one, continuing through September, October and possibly into early November. Questioned concerning the possible further restoration of Civil Service salary cuts, Mr. Hamilton said he was unable to .voice any opinion. Such matters depended on the financial situation, and there were people who said that general taxation should first be reduced. The whole position would have to be sized up later. Questioned concerning the possibility of an alteration to the electoral laws, Mr. Hamilton said he had not discussed it and it had not been formally discussed by the Cabinet. “I do not think any news could be better unless it were news of a general rise in prices for primary produce,” said the Minister referring to the meat agreement.
