v Paramount are to produce a picture called “Chain Letter,” based on the craze of sending letters round and round the world in geometrically increasing proportions under threat of dire penalties if the “chain” is broken. • #' # *

“Jalna,” the famous >story by Mazo de la Roche, is finally coming to the screen. RKO-Radio has signed Peggy Wood, stage and screen favourite, for a leading role and other castings to date include Nigel Bruce, C.. Aubrey Smith, John Wood, the young’ Australian actor, and Molly Lamont, the British actress recently signed by RKO-Radio.

Hunt Stromberg will be producer of •’The Great Ziegfeld,” with William Anthony McGuire, author of the story on .which the film is to be based, serving as Associate producer. William Powell will have the title role in this production, planned as one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s special features for the coming season.
