Miss Bigham, Eltham, is the guest of Mrs. Collingwood. Mrs. Masters, Patea, has taken up residence in Regan Street. Miss Iris McCredy, New Plymouth, will spend the week-end at Stratford with her mother.
Miss Burnly, Auckland, has taken up residence at Stratford.
Miss Kingston, Auckland, is visiting Stratford as the guest of Mrs. W. Shaw'. Miss McDonald, Hawera, who has been the guest of Mrs. N., Douglas, returns to Hawera to-day. Mrs. N. Douglas entertained at contract bridge on Tuesday. Mrs. D. Maxwell, Waikato, is visiting friends at Stratford.
Mrs. A. E. Moss, New Plymouth, and formerly of Stratford, was a visitor to Stratford for the Uhlenberg—McDonald wedding. Mrs. F. Anderson has left for Mercury Bay, where she will attend the wedding of her sister.
Miss Isabelle Schweiter, Wanganui, will spend the week-end at Stratford with her mother.
Mrs. John Rennie and Miss Eileen Thompson, Motukarara, Canterbury, who are on an extended tour of _the North Island, paid a short visit to Mrs. D. Hyndman, “The Hollies,” Stratford. Mrs. Seddon and Miss D. Seddon left on Wednesday for Wellington. Miss Seddon’s marriage will take place at Wellington next Wednesday. Mrs. R. Carryer gave an enjoyable afternoon at her home yesterday when ner guests were I.lesdames B. Bellringer, Chatterton, W. Hall, H. Von Sturmer, D. White and R. Strachan.
Mrs. D. J. Malone had an enjoyable afternoon party on Wednesday when her guests included Mesdames G. Hall, N. Douglas, H. L. Betts, F. Tyrer, L. Furrie, S. Porrit, W. Farquarson, Kirkwood and Budge and Misses Kirkwood, McDonald (Hawera), M. Porrit, A. Hardy-Jones and C. Uniache.
Mrs. L. J. Rowell entertained members of the British Music Society at her home oh Wednesday when there was a good attendance,. Mrs. Rowell received her guests wearing a smart frock of black crepe suede with a. black silk velvet coatee.' Among those present were: Mesdames C. Moore, Morton, E. Hutchings, J. Dixon, W. Clark, Sayers and Kilpatrick and Misses Woods, Taylor, Galbraith, Middleton (2), Harris, B. Trontor, P. Sanson, D. Keheley, ; Corney and Hutchings.
An enjoyable aftemoori was spent at the home of Mrs. O. M. Curtis on Wednesday when- a bridge party to did the funds of the Stratford Croquet Club was held. An enjoyable afternoon tea' was served. ' Those present were: Mesdames White, Macßae, A. Sayers, Anderson, Brocklebank, J. Boon, Peters, M. Coward, J; Butcher, W! -Burgess, D. Butchart, B. Rawles, Allen, P.* Thomson, Summerfield, Childs, Jolly, L. Reid,- E. Batten, Morgan, Dixon, Curtis, A. Moon, J. Weston and Harkness;
The Masonic hall was the scene of a jolly social on Tuesday when ■ Mesdames Pepperil' and/ Harrison, Eltham, were hostesses. The. evening was pleasantly spent in community singing and dancing, th<» music being played >by Mrs. Tait and extras by Mrs., Beasley (Eltham). Mrs. Pepperil wore a. smart frock of black georgette and lace while Mrs. Harrison Wore s a. dainty - frock of pink figured ■georgette. . Some of those present were: Mesdames - Beasley (Elthajn), Batten, C. Campbell, Masters, Morgan, Phillips(Eltham), J. Petrie, F. Stephens and Sait (Eltham).
