GROUP AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Largely owing to the efforts of Miss E. L. Dowling a group for the study of foreign languages and for purifying ordinary spoken English was formed at a meeting on Wednesday night. Miss Dowling outlined her proposals and stated that Mr. W, H. Moyes, principal of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School, had promised an instructor if a group of twenty was formed for the study of a particular subject. It was decided to hold weekly meetings, an hour to be spent on el'idy of a foreign language and half an hour on English. The following were elected officers: Chairman, Miss Dowling; committee, Mrs. Stonnell and Mrs. McPhillips; secretary, Mr. J. E. Andrews. German will be the first language undertaken. and Mrs.’Stonnell was appointed instructress.
