ST. ANDREW’S BEATS ST. MARY’S. WINNER SECURES EIGHT GAMES. St. Andrew’s beat St. Mary s at badminton by eight games (163 aces) to four games (131 aces) in the first round of the Spalding Shield competition played on the St. Mary’s club courts last night. Details, with St. Andrew's names mentioned first, are as follow:— Men’s doubles: J. Tavendale and Smart lost to Parsons and Smith 12-15, Cocker and Treeby lost to Loveridge and Thomson 13—15, Tavendale and Smart beat Loveridge and Thomson 15 14, Cocker and Treeby lost to Parsons and Smith B—ls. Women’s doubles: Misses James and Waters beat Misses Pulford and Purser 15—7, Misses Hamilton and Hamilton beat Misses Hammond and Veale 15—9, Misses James and Waters beat Misses Hammond and Veale 15—7, Misses Hamilton and Hamilton beat Pulford and Purser 15 —5.
