buttermilk cake. (Sent by Queenie Bishop.) One quart of buttermilk, 1 teaspoonful salt, one egg, one teaspoonful baking soda, flour to make a thin batter. Beat the egg, add to it the buttermilk and the salt and mix well. Dissolve the baking soda in two tablespoons of boiling water, then stir it into the buttermilk. Now add gradually the flour, stirring all the while, until you have a batter that will pdur smoothly from a spoon. Give the mixture a good, beating and bake quickly on a hot griddle.
OUR SUNSHINE CORNER. The pile of sunshine squares in the cupboard is becoming larger every week. Those who added to it this week were:— Margaret Parker, Kaponga, who sent ng a bundle of six. Lucy Mouat,' Te Wera, who sent us two that she had made. Ruby Allen, Waitoitoi, who sent five. Edna Butler, Manaia, who sent four. The total number of squares we now have is 30. OUR DRAWING COMPETHTON. The closing date for our drawing competition is July 19 (next Friday), so all pictures of the Wendy Hut must be sent in by then. And don’t forget to write your name, age and address on the back of your entry and see that you have a * grdwn-up’a signature as wall. RIDDLES.
