NEW CONDUCTOR
STRATFORD CITIZENS’ BAND. APPOINTMENT OF MR. R. L. LOWE. The appointment of a conductor for the new Stratford Citizens’ Band was decided at a meeting of the band committee last night. The successful applicant was Mr. R. L. Lowe, New Plymouth, formerly conductor of, the New Plymouth Citizens’ Band. It was decided that the conductor should be engaged for a period of not less than 12 months. Mr. Lowe had a sound reputation as a teacher and a conductor, said the chairman,'Mr. A. E. Pollock, and he had been very successful in contest work. Mr. Pollock considered the band was fortunate in securing the services of a man so highly qualified. The new conductor will commence his duties on Monday. There were present at the meeting Messrs. A. E. Pollock (chairman), A. D. Jury, W. Elliott, F. Foley, junr., A. H. Trotter and A. E. Sayers (hon. secretary).
