ELTHAM AMBULANCE
' PROPOSED CAR NOT SUITABLE. DECISION OF PUBLIC MEETING. I ' '■ , After having gone carefully into the matter the committee set up to investigate the question of converting a gift car into an ambulance for the Eltham district reported to a special public meeting of Eltham citizens last night that in its opinion the vehicle was definitely unsuitable for the purpose. As a result of the committee’s report it was resolved that ho further action be taken and that the Turner family be thanked for the motives which prompted the gift. ' . The chairman, Mr. I. J.-Bridger, said he could not agree entirely that the car was unsuitable as he felt it had many advantages. He was still of the opinion that an ambulance was desirable at Eltham.
'ln reply to a question,- by Mr. Foord whether the donors would be prepared to make the car available as a gift to the Red Cross Society Mr. Bridger said he understood the donors had decided in the event of the offer being declined to. convert it into a truck. Mr. G. W. Peebles thanked Mr. Bridger for the interest he had taken in the project. .
