'The Yangtse burst its banks, flooding the entire cjty of Hanyang, while a neighbouring village was wiped out and two-thirds of the inhabitants perished. Fifty thousand are homeless. The streets of other large cities were sub? merged, , The dykes protecting Hankow are holding and troops have been called out to strengthen them.
