Severe Hailstorm.

All work in the school was stopped for about 10 minutes by a severe hailstorm from the south-west on August 6,1909. The stones were recorded by the headmaster as being half an inch in diameter. Dental Clinic Service. One of the important services administered from the Hawera Main school is the dental clinic, which caters for more than 600 children from a large district. The clinic was inaugurated in 1926, when a B type structure was built. That was replaced in 1930, when a commodious A type clinic was erected. Schools catered for are Ararata, Fraser Road, Hawera Convent, Hawera Infants, Hawera Mam, Meremere, Mokoia, Normanby, Ohangai, Tawhiti, Tokaora, Turuturu, Whakamara and Whareroa. Patients under school age are also catered for. Nurse I. Lawson, is in charge of the clinic, which is situated next to the Main school.

The accession of the present King was celebrated in suitable manner in the school in 1910, just as was his jubilee in the present year.
