SCHOOL PIG CLASSES
AWARDS AT SMITHFIELD. - • . .. ■ . \ f e.../ > ■ COMMENTS OF THE JUDGES. A Smithfield report on pigs bred by. Taranaki school children and forwarded to England for judging was placed before the Taranaki Education Board by the agricultural instructor, Mr. D. Mackay. The animals were killed .at Waitara and exhibited at New Plymouth before being forwarded to Smithfield. That the aim should be to encourage tile breeding of 60 to 801 b weights, with not so wide a range of weights as characterised the shipment judged, was the comment of the judges. The awards were: —' Porker, under 1001 b: Jack Blizzard (Carrington) 1, Alfred Sharr'ock .(Tataraimaka) 2, Rex Hoffman (Harford Road) 3. Entries submitted by Nigel Inston'e (Kaimata), and Dan Barrett (Kina Road), were commended and others lacked finish.
