NATIONAL SCHEME?
SCHOOL AND HOUSE BUILDING.
RUMOUR OF LARGE EXPENDITURE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. An announcement that before long there would be a prospect of a national scheme of remodelling and constructing schools, as well as a major house-build-ing project in the main centres of the Dominion, was made by Mr. G. Maddison, chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, at its monthly meeting to-day. Mr. Maddison said from what he had heard at Wellington there was every reason to believe there would be considerable expenditure for school construction and reconstruction. He said the Government would probably embark upon a major scheme house-building similar to that in England. Members expressed approval of the suggested scheme.
