RUGBY TOURNAMENT
PRIMARY SCHOOLS TO PLAY.
EIGHTY BOYS AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
Eighty boys will take part in the sixth annual quadrangular Rugby tournament for primary school teams to be held at New Plymouth between August 24 and 29. Four teams will take part, representing Hutt Valley, Rangitikei, Horowhenua and Taranaki. To consider the billeting of the boys and preliminary arrangements connected ■with the tournament, a special meeting of the north Taranaki Primary School Sports Association was held at New Plymouth last night. Mr. G. Caiman presided over a good attendance.
Each of the four teams will be entitled to bring five boys in addition to the 15 selected, it was explained. ''lncluding the South Taranaki representatives, it is expected that 70 boys, will be visiting New Plymouth for the contest. With the object of arranging for their board, it was decided to rsk the following schools if they could billet the number of boys indicated: Central, Fitzroy and West End (15 each', New Plymouth, Convent, Moturoa, Westown and Vogeltown (10 each). The following, committees were appointed:—Reception, Messrs. G. Caiman (convener), J. G. C. Leach and A. "B. Bams and the Rev. Father Minogue; entertainment, Messrs. G. A. Lyall (convener), A. V. Gilbert, A. E. Simpson, R. Short, W. L. Wagstaff, A. H. McLean, F. Gilligan and D. P. Evans, and Father Minogue; transport, Messrs. G. A. Lyall (convener), W. Anderson, R. Brown, R. E. Thomas, R. J. Thomas, A. E. Simpson, G. Kenny and W. A. Adams; billetting, Messrs. G. Caiman (convener), J. G. C. Leach and G. H. Davey and Father Minogue; games, Messrs. R. Short (convener), B. Whiteside, A. E. Simpson, C. Nicholls; printing and publicity, Messrs. G. Caiman (convener), and J. G. Leach; weighing, Messrs. M. J. Smith (convener), W. L. Wagstaff, W. Nicholl and R. Short.
