PERSONAL AND GENERAL. ’ ——— . ( An entertainment was given last week, by Mr. and Mrs. Weaver for the. 21st birthday of their eldest daughter Winnie.- , About 35 guests were present. The evening was spent with games. Mr. Annis proposed the toast of the guc t and wished her success. Her father, Mr. Weaver, responded and presented her with a golden key. The cake was decorated with 21 candles. Mrs. Hughes, New Plymouth, the only surviving grandmother - of both sides of the families, was present, her age being 86. Many presents were received. Many of the young people went to Opunake on Monday to decorate the church for the marriage of Miss Brewer the next day. The basketball girls’ euchre party was a great success, there being a large attendance. The prizes were won by Miss Peggy Waswo 1, Mrs. Lowry 2, Mr. G. Horo 1, Mr.> Dave Ratieti 2. The aggregate prizes went to Mrs. L. Castles and' Mr. Tie Bishop. On Tuesday evening after the wedding Mrs. Brewer, mother of the bride, opened her house and a party was held in aid of the “Bush” baby in the carnival. There were about 40 present and a very lively time was spent. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mackay were farewelled on Wednesday evening prior to their leaving for their new home next day. Mr. G. Gibson was chairman.'* He asked Mr. and Mrs. Mackay to accept a set of saucepans from the public and a substantial cheque from the basketball club and dramatic club, of which Mrs.
Mackay was a member. Music was played by Miss Street, Miss Murray and Mr. Norgate. Mrs. W. Clarke, Opurapa Rdad, entertamed friends on Wednesday'afternoon.
