GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. The Egmont Village Old Girls’ basketball team played the first match of the year against Inglewood Convent Old Girls at Inglewood, when the result was a 3-3 draw. In a match played on the Egmont Village courts on Thursday, Egmont Village defeated Norfolk Old Girls by 16 to 13. he home players were Misses Joyce Thomason (captain), Esrne Thomason, Dulcie Guilford, Ivy Gyde, Noeline Dodunski, Ivy Upson, Connie Stapleton, Eileen Upson, Violet Dryden, Doris Chard, Madge Bowen and Betty Bridger. The Egmont Village football team played its first match for the season on Mr. Andrew Dodunski’s field against Kaimata. The result was a draw, each side scoring six points.- The Egmont Village players were S. O’Byrne, John O’Byrne, D. Corkill,. J. Ashman, J. Drinkwater, I. Pellews, H. Patterson, E. O’Byrne, R. Rumble, N. Bowen, A. O’Byrne, A. Taylor, C. Ward, L. Jordan and F. Hunter. In a match played at the week-end at Norfolk Road Egmont Village defeated Norfolk by 11 points to three.

The school committee held another fivehundred evening when the progressive game was played. Mr. H. R. Marsh conducted the play. Prizes were won by Mrs. Marsh and Mr. G. Chard. Mr, A. Morton left by Tuesday morning’s express for Wellington and Dunedin, where he will attend the South Island dairy conference. Mrs. T. Klipsch, Waiuku, has returned ■home after spending a holiday with Mrs. R. Crush, Lepper Road.
