Sir James Parr, who was knighted in 1924, was Minister of Education, Minister of Health, Minister of Justice and Postmaster-General at various times in the Reform administrations of 1920-26. He was High Commissioner in 1926-30, returning to New Zealand to be appointed to the Legislative/ Council. He was subsequently selected for a second term as High Commissioner. Sir Alfred Ransom, the acting-Prime Minister, held a similar office in 1930-31. He was deputy-leader of the United Party and became Minister of Public works in the Ward Government. He held his present portfolios of Land, Valuation and State Forests in the Forbes Government. Sir Francis Frazer was. appointed to the magistracy in 1911 and judge of the Arbitration Court in 1921, He was acting judge of the Supreme Court in 1928. He was chairman of the recent Dairy Commission.

General Sir Herbert Hart, D. 5.0., Croix de Guerre, served in the South African War and the Great War. He was mentioned five times in dispatches. Prior to being .appointed Samoan administrator he practised law at Masterton. Sir Henry Horton is managing director of the New Zealand Herald and Auckland Weekly News. He has other business interests at Auckland and is a director of the Press Association. He is on the executive of the Auckland Patriotic Society and is a member of the Auckland University Council.

General Sir William Sinclair-Burgess, D. 5.0., Legion of Honour, has been G.O.C. since 1931. He served in the Great War as. a colonel in the Australian artillery and as a brigadier-general, being mentioned in dispatches six times. Dr. Doris Gordon was the first woman

in Australia to secure a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, securing the honour at the same time as her husband, Dr. W. P. P.' Gordon, in 1925. She founded the Obstetrical Society in 1927 and promoted and organised the obstetrical /endowment appeal in 1930, by which’ £31,750 was raised for a chair at Dunedin. Prior to commencing her practice at Stratford she was on the staff of the Dunedin hospital and lecturer at the Otago University. She has always been especially interested in maternal and infant welfare. /
