Colonel G. J. Smith, Mr. K. B. Tennant and Flying-Officer G. W. MoiTish, three New Zealanders, attended the Bling’s levee, states a London cable.
Paymaster Captain H. Hamano, of the Japanese cruiser Asama, died suddenly of cerebral haemorrhage, states a cable from Suva. The body was cremated.
The death of Colonel Sir Harold Boulton, C.8.E., who served with distinction m the Indian medical service and in Asia, Africa and Europe, is reported in a London cable. He was 62 years of age, Mr. R. D. Grant, manager of the Wairoa branch of the Union Bank of Australia, has received notice of his promotion to New Plymouth. Mr. Grant has proved a very capable bank officer, says the Hawkes Bay Herald, and Mrs. Grant has taken great interest in social Qrganisations.
Reference was made at a meeting of the North' Taranaki Schools’ Pig Clubs executive on Saturday to the valuable work thaFhad been done in fostering the. movement since its ■ inception in the schools by Mrs. E. M. Smith, headmistress of the Tataraimaka school, who is shortly to leave for England. It .was resolved to place on record appreciation of her services.
