MANY SLIPS ON ROADS
MANGAMINGI DISTRICT NEWS. The consistent wet weather of the last two weeks has had a devastating effect on the Ridge and Valley Roads.. Many more slips have fallen on the ridge and the roadmen are in constant attendance. The Mangamingi stream has been in high flood, and on several occasions motor traffic has been held up, in some cases for two hours. The work of repairing the road will be expensive. Crutching has commenced, but -the wet weather is retarding it a good deal. During the -past three days the weather, though wet, has been very mild and has stimulated the growth of grass to a considerable extent, so that stock are doing very well. A euchre party held at Mangamingi on Friday night was in spite of the weather an unqualified success. Play in both divisions was very close, seven women tieing for first place. Miss McCool . won first prize and Mrs. P. R. Browne the second. Among the men Mr. G. Parker was first and Mr. T. Taylor second. Dancing followed to music supplied by Mrs. Taylor and the Misses Kirk and BromMiss Webber, who was the guest of Miss S. Smith, has returned to Wellington. ~ Mrs. McCaw, Inglewood, who paid a short visit to Mangamingi, has returned home. Miss V. Woodley has returned from a holiday at Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. P. R, Brown have returned from Rotorua,
