STRATFORD RAILWAY YARDS SITE. DEFINITE ASSURANCE GIVEN. The old plan to shift the Stratford station and yards to a site near Warwick Road was definitely abandoned two years ago, according to a statement made at Stratford yesterday by the acting chair-" man of the Railways Board, Sir James Gunson, to the town clerk, Mr. P. Skoglund, and the president of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce, Mr. W. Hoskin, in the presence of Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P., at whose request the reply was giv6n. Mr. Polson, knowing that many townspeople still feared that the station would be shifted at some time in accordance with the old plan, asked Sir James to give a definite assurance to the contrary. Sir James remarked during his reply that £14,000 had recently been spent on the present site and it was not likely that the department would expend that sum if there were any intention of making a change.
