DOUGLAS CRICKET CLUB
SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE PARTY. The Douglas Cricket Club’s euchre party on Tuesday was a great success. The card competition was most keenly contested, Mesdames Needham and Parkes and Misses A. Walter and M. Tuck tying for the prize. In the cut Mrs. Needham and Miss Tuck tied again, the latter finally winning the prize. Mrs. Needham passed her second prize back to the committee, which presented it for consolation, Mrs. Platt being the winner. Mr. E. Walter and Mr. Rodgers, tied for the men’s prize. After supper there was dancing, music being played by Mr. Dooley Hill. The drawing of the raffle, which took place under police supervision, proved a great attraction. The first prize (a cushion) was won by Mrs. Paton, Inglewood, the second prize (an oil painting) by Miss Muriel Taylor, Taurakawa, and the third prize (a table scarf) by Mr. W. Parkes, Douglas. The club was gratified at the financial success of the venture, which was greater than was. anticipated. . .
