ALIVE 10 DAYS AGO
MISSIONARIES HELD BY BANDITS. LETTER RECEIVED FROM ANOTHER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Peking, April 30. It is now established that the captive missionaries, Mr. A. Hayman, a New Zealander ,and M. Bosshardt, a Swiss, who were kidnapped in October, were alive 10 days ago.
The British legation learned to-day from the Consul at Changsha, Hunan province, that a letter dated April 20 had been received from the missionary, Mn Becker, stating that both the captives were at Lungshiachi, 30 miles from Yungchowfu, in Southern Hunan. They were being well treated.
The bandits earlier threatened to murder the missionaries unless a ransom totalling about £70,000 was paid.
