FALL ON MOUNTAINSIDE
ESCAPE ON NARROW TRACK FORTUNE OF MR. W. BROMLEY. INSPECTION OF QUARTZ MINERS. REALISATION OF NEED OF ACCESS. By Telegraph—Press Association. - Greymouth, Last Night. Mr. Walter Bromley, deputy-chairman of the Unemployment Board, narrowly escaped serious injury this afternoon when riding on a mountainside in a rainstorm along a dangerous track to inspect quartz miners prospecting in the vicinity of Blackball. Mr. Bromley’s horse put a leg through a culvert, Mr. Bromley being imprisoned under the animal for five minutes before he could be released. He was not injured as the horse remained quiet. The party, including Mr. P. C. Webb, M.P., continued its journey afoot, inspecting the Minerva Crossing and the Garden Gully mines, all of which formerly were worked. A favourable impression was gained regarding prospectors’ work and there was a realisation of the need to improve the means of access.
The party returned to Greymouth to? night.
