RATANA v. WAVERLEY RUGBY. tThe Waverley v. Ratana football match was played at a fast pace throughout. Waverley won by six to three. Both teams fielded hard-working packs of forwards, but Waverley had the ascendancy in the back division. The Waverley half-back fed his backs very well and they made good use of the ball. The Ratana backs were sound on defence, the full-back, T. Chase, being a tower of strength. The Waverley fifteen had the advantage in the first spell. After several cloee attempts Waverley opened the scoring just before half-time, when Thomas picked up and passed to Petersen, who beat three men before passing infield to Campbell, who scored well . out. Miss Cleary left during the week-end for Palmerston North, where she will spend several days with her sisters, Miss E. and Miss F. Cleary. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Simson arrived at Wellington from Sydney on Monday. Mrs. Simson will visit her sister, Mrs. Anderson, Hataitai, before returning to “Claremont Park,” Nukumaru. Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Bremer were Waverley visitors to Hawke’s Bay for Easter. They returned during the weekend. Mrs. J. Spencer, Matangi, Waikato, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mitchell, “The Falls,” Kohi. Miss Howell returned to Waverley during the week-end after spending several days at Brunswick, Wanganui. Mrs. A. Chesswas, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Waverley on Monday. Miss E. Wall was a visitor to Wanganui during the Easter vacation and was the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Hogg.

OKAIAWA MAORI CRICKETERS. BATTING AND BOWLING FIGURES. Following are the averages of the Okaiawa Maori cricket team, winner of the Primmer Cup and Bennett and Sutton trophy;— Batting.

The team concluded the season with a dance and presentation of trophies in the hall on Tuesday night. For the occasion the hall was decorated with festoons of maroon and blue streamers, the club’s colours. Greenery was arranged around the walls and the back of the stage bore the club’s initials outlined in fern leaves. Music was provided by the Royal Maori string band. Miss Puketapu and Mr.- T. Toro played extras.' Euchre prizes were won by the following: Mrs. W. Katene 1, Mrs. T. Katene 2; Mr. G. Kingi 1, Mr. D. Damon 2. Two Monte Carlo sweepstakes were won by Mr. B. Johnny and Miss Matoe and Mr. E. Smith and partner. Mr. A. Burke in presenting the Bennett and Sutton trophy congratulated the team on its win and said the best team finished at the head of the ladder. Mr. D. Skipper thanked the speaker and on behalf of his team made a presentation to the club’s manager, Mr. Jackson Pi, and thanked him for the good work he had accomplished for the team.
