Coastal Rivers in Flood.

Following the heavy rain of Wednesday and Thursday evening the majority of the Taranaki coastal rivers were running in flood yesterday. Several of them, particularly Stony and Oaonui rivers, were very muddy as though the flood waters had been passing through slips. The new groyne which has been erected above the Oxford dairy factory in order to : keep the Mangatete stream in its proper channel stood up well to the strain, fulfilling its mission admirably and preventing the river breaking through across the road, as it had done on two previous occasions recently.
