FAST HALF MILES RUN

RICCARTON TRACK GALLOPS. GREY HONOUR AND MANETHO. Christchurch, April 18. A dense fog enveloped the Riccarton course early this morning, and as the result training operations were delayed, most of the trainers waiting until, after the breakfast interval. The outside of the course proper provided good going. Fracas and Knockout galloped early, doing a mile in 1.43. Their stable-mates, including Bun Fight, Hororata, Astraea, Owlsgleam, Tail Light, Silly Owl and Panegyric, did sprinting tasks which could not be timed. Grand Review did seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5, Lucetta taking 1.34. Minerval covered a mile in 1.45. Sky Rover, brought home by Patrole, ran a mile in 1.43 2-5. Tauramai and Importance were together at the end of seven furlongs in 1.30 2-5. Moonbeam and Frenchie did six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Fleeting Glance, with a big weight.up, covered a mile and a-quarter, the last mile in 1.50. Sam Smith, Tuirau and Rebel Chief finished in that order with gaps between them over six furlongs covered in 1.15 4-5. Doiran did a working gallop of six furlongs. > Emissary ran six furlongs easily in 1.22 1-5. Chidden ran nine furlongs, the last mile in 1.45 3-5. Jolly Beggar and Star Raider ran six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Greek Shepherd and Knowledge sprinted down the straight. Horowhenua beat Haere Tonu over seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5. Lowater ran six furlongs in 1.17. Golden Dart and Rebel Queen did five furlongs in 1.4. Universe and Matron ran half a mile in 50 4-ss. Joyous beat Westward Ho easily over half a mile in 51s. Grey Honour, giving away weight, was alongside the Glenltxce gelding at the end of half a mile in 49 3-ss. Sea Fox did six furlongs on the plough in 1.18 3-ss.
