ELTHAM PLUNKET SOCIETY. ANNUAL REPORT PRESENTED. The 19th annual meeting of the Eltham Plunket Society was held at Eltham yesterday, when., a comprehensive report on the year’s activities was presented. The nurse said there had been 60 new cases. Visits to the rooms were: Adults 1036, babies 953, children 279, visits to homes 336, total 2268. Only five of the new babies were artificially fed. A few cases of. under-weight babies responded quickly to simple treatment. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £36, compared with a balance of £57 at the start of the year. The report stated that special efforts had been most successful, and the committee was indebted to all who assisted, including a bridge evening, a shop day, a garden fete and mannequin parade. The resignation was received of Mrs. C. Cooper, who had given splendid service as secretary and treasurer. The trustees of the building fund had been able to erect new rooms, which were now being used. The official opening would take place at an early date. The new quarters should be very convenient.

Nurse Mason had been in charge throughout the year and proved most capable in every way. Thanks were due to all who had given assistance or donated trophies, concluded the report. Officers elected were: Patroness, Lady Carncross; president, Mrs. J. Campbell; secretary, Mrs. A. J. MacPherson; treasurer, Mrs. R. Lee; auditor, Mr. F. Clemow; solicitors, Messrs. Syme and Weir; advisory committee, Messrs. Wilkinson, Carman and Bridger; general committee, Mesdames A. L. Picard, W. D. Hart, C. A. Belcher, W. Higgins, S. W. Crawford, C. Carncross, D. H. Saunders, C. A. Wilkinson, Clement, D. May, W. M. Peacock, Treweek, H. Belcher, A. Ware, J. A. Rankin, Brown, B. H. Goldsmith, G. H. Mann, R. H. Gover, Linn, C. Pease.

The chairman, Mr. I. J. Bridger, congratulated the members on the success of the year’s activities and on the erection of the new building. Sir Walter Carncross added congratulations to all who had been connected with the society and praised its good work. He said that when it was handed over to the borough council the new building would be free of debt. This was a great credit to the town and the people behind the movement. A smaller Plunket room could have been erected long ago, but it was considered advisable to combine it with a rest room. It was gratifying that a donation of £BO

had been received from the Eltham Racing Club. Mesdames Irwin and Hugo, of the Stratford branch, also added congratulations. A record of appreciation of the good work of Mrs. C. Cooper was made. Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson’s assistance was the subject of a resolution.
