VOGELTOWN ROADS

METALLING WORK ASKED FOR. PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION PLEA. A request that the New Plymouth Borough Council should immediately carry out metalling works in Vogeltown streets as asked for by the association was decided on at a well attended meeting of the Vogeltown Progressive Association last night. Mr. W. F. Short presided and it was dsecided to call a meeting of kindred district associations and the retailers’ association in connection with the coming civic elections. The association - expressed regret “that the couiicil had not seen fit to carry out its undertakings given from time to time to complete the formation and tar-sealing of Mill Road, Ballance Street and Victoria Road from Shortland Street to Holds Worthy Road.” A motion was carried “that as the council has now entered a new financial period the requests of the association should be given immediate attention, as we are of the opinion that the amount expended at Vogeltown in comparison with other parts of the borough is totally inadequate.”

It was decided to write to the other progressive associations ,in New Ply-' 1 mouth and the retailers’ association asking them to send delegates to a meeting to discuss the matter of the municipal elections. The question of the elections as affecting Vogeltown was discussed at some length and arrangements were set in train for polling day.
