GOOD QUALITY EWES

INQUIRY AT FEILDING SALE. There was an average yarding in each section at the Feilding Stock sale conducted by Dalgety and Co., Ltd., on Friday. The store ewes, a poor lot, met with a dull sale. There was a strong inquiry for good quality ewes. Store wethers were disappointing, good sheep making only 20s, but this fall in price was in sympathy with the export schedule. The entry of store lambs met good competition, with little change in value. Fat lambs were forward in larger numbers and were fully competed for up to schedule prices. Only a few pens of fat wethers came forward, and these met a dull sale. Fat ewes were wanted and were purchased mostly for the local trade. There was a small entry of run cattle, with little competition. Buyers appeared to be prepared to wait before making their purchases. A moderate entry of fat cattle, station and dairy sorts, came to hand. The market for all kinds eased in accordance with latest export prices. Quotations were:—Fat lambs, 17s Bd, 20s 4d; fat ewes, 13s, 13s 3d, 13s sd; fat wethers, 18s, 19s 6d, 21s 6d, 225; wether lambs, 10s 6d, 10s lOd; ewe lambs, 15s, 15s’ 7d, 17s; b.f. lambs, 12s lOd, two and four-tooth ewes 16s, six-tooth and fouryear ewes r.w. S.D. rams, 21s. Special entry of 300 f. and f wethers, on account T. Orr, Whariti, 19s Bd, and two-tooth wethers 18s. Weaner heifers made 10s, 16s; Jersey bulls, £2 15s; store cows, 17s to 265; store heifers, P.A. and Hereford, 30s, £2; 20-month P.A. steers, £3 15s; fat . cows,'P.A. and Hereford, £3 15s to £4 ss; fat cows (Jersey),,£2 to £4 10s; fat bullocks, £5 2s 6d, £5 10s £! 7s 6d.
