Miss Reeves, Hawkes Bay, has arrived at New Plymouth to commence training at the public hospital. Mrs. Norman Little was hostess at afternoon tea at her home on Monday as a farewell to Miss M. Sladden. Miss M. Ryburn arrived from Auckland yesterday on a holiday visit to New Plymouth.

Mrs. Bennett, who has been spending several weeks with her daughter, Mrs. A.. M. Thomson, left at' the week-end for Hawkes Bay.

Graham, who has‘been on a short visit to the South Island, left by the Niagara from Auckland? yesterday on a trip to Australia. Mrs. A. P. O’Leary, London, and Mrs. Arthur. Sanders, Buenos Aires, have been the guests of Mrs. J. Scanlan and left yesterday for Auckland. Miss Mclntosh, formerly principal of. the New Plymouth Girls’ High School, will arrive from Auckland to-day for the jubilee celebrations. She will be the guest of Mrs. F. E. Wilson. Miss Vinnie Ross entertained at a fancy dress party in honour of Miss Avis Pauli on Saturday night. Several amusing competitions were held and during the evening the guest of honour was presented by her friends with |a number of dainty gifts.

An enjoyable evening was held at the home of Mrs. F. S. Johns last night, when Mrs. W. Brodie was entertained by the members of a private tennis club to whom she had lent her court for the tennis season.

Mrs. I. Percival and Mrs. I. Whitcombe, Auckland, arrived at New Plymouth on Monday morning. Both are old girls of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School and will remain for the jubilee celebrations. /- Bowls of scarlet dahlias and autumn leaves decorated the drawing room at “Maranui” on Monday afternoon when Miss Rauma List entertained at a five o’clock kitchen gift party for Miss Avis Pauli. Over .20 guests had been invited apd they brought useful gifts for the guest of honour, who wore a navy blue floral frock and a navy hat. The guests included Mesdames I. Roy, W. Watts, E. von Sturmer, S. Russell, H. D. Maxwell, G. List and Misses K. Glenn (Wanganui), K. Morey, H. > Bullock, P. Wylds, R. Gentles, A. Gentles, P. Bentley, B. George, E. Bolton, E. List and V. Ross.

Mrs. W. H. Freeman, who is to leave shortly to live at Invercargill, was guest of honour at a bridge party given by Mrs. J. H. Sheat at her home on Monday night. Bowls of flowers and berries in the rich autumn tonings of gold, bronze hnd scarlet made pretty decorations for the room, where four tables, were arranged for play. Mrs. C. N. Johnson won a prize for highest score and a consolation prize was won by Mr. W. H. Woodward. Mrs. Freeman was guest of honour at a party again yesterday afternoon, when a number of her friends organised a farewell tea at the Chequers tearooms. More ; than 50 friends were present, and on their behalf Mrs. O. Johnson made a presentation to Mrs. Freeman.
