1935-36 ESTIMATES TABLED. £lO,OOO PROVIDED FOR ADDITIONS. The estimates of the Taranaki Hospital Board for the year 1935-36, which are to be forwarded to the Health Department for approval, were submitted to the board yesterday. « The total estimated cost under the category of loan expenditure was £20,000, the estimate for the year totalling £18,500. The principal features were additions to the nurses’ home £9OOO, tuberculosis annex building £2500, repayment of existing loan £2BBO, additional furniture for nurses’ home £lOOO. The total of estimated maintenance receipts was £49,920. Hospital fees for 1935-36 were estimated to produce £12,000 and old people’s home recoveries and pensions £lOOO. Local body levies were estimated to produce £15,399, compared with £15,090 (actual) for last year. Government subsidy outstanding was shown in two sections as £1696 and £17,151, compared with £2608 and £14,891 (actual) for 1934-35. The total amount from local body levies and Government subsidies outstanding was estimated at £34,246. The total estimated maintenance expenditure for 1935-36 is set down at £49,920, compared with £49,761 (actual) and £48,199 (estimated) for 1934-35. The following were the amounts allotted to the various sections of the institution for 1935-36 with the actual amount for 1934-35 shown in parentheses: 1935-36 £35,145 (£34,040), nurses’ home £1950 (£1686), relief £5850 (£6032), administration £2680 (£2486), miscellaneous £4295 (£5514). Under the heading of capital expenditure provision is made for £2517, compared with £5770 actual expenditure in 1934-35. The principal amount involved is a loan repayment of £920. The capital receipts were local bodies’ levies £1176, Government subsidies outstanding £164. Accounts to be written off as at March 31, 1935, amounted to £449 7s 4d.
