MOTOR-CYCLE TRIAL

PROGRAMME- FOR EASTER RUN. NEW PLYMOUTH HALF-WAY MARK. A comprehensive four days’ reliability trial embracing Napier, Auckland, New Plymouth and Wellington has been arranged by the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union for the Easter holidays. Particulars have been received at New Plymouth by Mr. H. W. Lightband, who with Mr. H- Moller will take charge of the competitors at New Plymouth, which will be the half-way checking station. There are 27 entrants so far, and they will stay at New Plymouth next Saturday night. . The trial will commence at Napier onFriday morning, the route being via Taupo, Rotorua, Auckland, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington. Masterton and Dannevirke, back to Napier. The timetable provides for the return to Napier on the afternoon of Easter Monday. The checking-in stations will be at Auckland, New Plymouth, Wellington and Napier, these towns ’ marking the end of each days’, section. There will be no secret checks but non-stop checks will be taken at Taupo and Hamilton on Friday, at Hamilton on Saturday, at Hawera, Wanganui and Levin on Sunday and at Masterton on Monday. Competitors will start from Napier at 6 a.m. on Friday, all speedometers being disconnected before the start. The average speed per hour from Napier to Rotorua will be 25 miles an hour and for the remainder of the trial 30 miles per hour. Arrangements have made for luncheon at Rotorua on Friday ‘and for accommodation at Auckland that night. On the Saturday the riders will leave Auckland at 8 a.m. and will lunch at Te Kuiti, arriving at New Plymouth at approximately 4.55 pan. On Easter Sunday the competitors will leave New Plymouth at 7.30 a.m. for Palmerston - North, where luncheon will be taken, and for the next checking station at Wellington, . The final day will be commenced at 6.30 a.m., the route being through the Wairarapa, with lunch at Dannevirke. On arrival at Napier all the riders will be checked at the racecourse.
