FOUR OFFICERS TO GO
ONEHUNGA BOROUGH AFFAIRS.
DRASTIC RECOMMENDATIONS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Drastic recommendations were contained in a report tabled at a meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council by an investigation committee appointed by the council to inquire into borough affairs. The upshot was a decision to dispense with the services of four officers, the town clerk (Mr. H. A. Yockney), the foreman of Works (Mr. R. Gordon), the storeman (Mr. R. Inglis) and a motor mechanic (Mr. L. Brain).
The report of the committee, which comprised three members of the council "and three residents, had recommended the dismissal of only Messrs. Gordon and Brain. The Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, an ex-officio member of the committee, declined to sign its report, and he presented a minority statement countering the allegations made.
