Rec. 11.10 p.m. Delhi, April 15. Thirteen were killed and 42 injured in a riot at Ferozabad after Hindus had stoned miniature tombs of Moslem martyrs carried in a Mohurrum festival. A house from which stones were believed to have been thrown was set on fire, and 11 Hindu inmates incinerated. The Times’ correspondent says the burned building was a private hospital owned by a Hindu doctor, who vainly barricaded his doors against the mob. Among the patients burned to death were three children.
The police fired 30 rounds to quell the disturbance, killing one and wounding seven.
A communal clash at Botad resulted in six being killed and 20 injured. Several were hurt at Ranchi and Hazaribagh at Bihar when religionists stoned each other. British troops were called out.
At Karachi, despite the tension following the recent fierce rioting, the celebrations passed off without incident.
