GREAT PACING HEATS
CHAMPIONS AT HAWERA HAROLD LOGAN AND IMPROMPTU. PAIR TO CONTEST THE RUBBER. (Special to Daily News). As a result of the two match races at Wanganui between Harold Logan and Impromptu giving each horse a win, the respective owners, Messrs. E. F. C. Hinds and C. Moran, have decided to hold a third contest at Hawera to decide the rubber, and the race should prove a great draw card for Saturday. Harold Logan and Impromptu are well matched’rivals, as last season they met twice in invitation scratch races, each gaining a win. impromptu was successful at Auckland but at Wellington Harold Logan turned the , tables, scoring a very narrow win after a great race. The first day at Wanganui Impromptu defeated the champion, but at the second meeting Harold Logan. had his revenge. With honours even the Hawera match will create Dominion-wide interest and furnish a stirring contest.
Harbld Logan has the advantage of being a wonderful beginner, while Impromptu is usually slow to find his feet. Providing this disability does not. cost him too much ground Impromptu, in his present form, hag a fine chance of repeating his first day performance, but Harold Logan is improving with racing.
