FARM HOUSE BURNED
FURNITURE AND EFFECTS SAVED. GLARE SEEN FOR MANY MILES. A six-roomed farm house on Lower Mangawhero Road, owned by Mr. W. Hudson, Manaia, and occupied by his son, Mr. Newton Hudson and an employee, Mr. Charles Mowat, was completely destroyed by fire on Friday evening. v Messrs. Hudson and Mowat, who lived alone in the house, were milking, and towards, 7 o’clock discovered the house tc be on fire. They were able to save their personal effects and what furniture, was in the house, but the building was totally destroyed, the. fire raging until about 10.45 p.m., lighting up the sky for many miles. The actual cause of the outbreak is not known, but it is understood that there was a fire in the dining-room in the afternoon. The insurances are not known.
