QUARTERLY MEETING HELD. SUNDAY. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. Reports op church activities were submitted .at. the quarterly meeting of the Hawera Methodist Church on Thursday night. The Rev. B. Metson presided over an attendance of about 20 members.- • - • ■ ’ " l - ' The second Sunday in June was set aside as Youth-- Sunday. One person was admitted to church membership and it was reported that two members had left: the church. Greetings were received from Mrs. R. J. Squire, the oldest member, who is on holiday. Mr. T. J. Hurrell reported that the harvest festival appeal had been successful. An amount of £65 4s Id raised would reduce the circuit debt considerably. It was decided that Mr. Metson should call a meeting of Hawera preachers at an early date. Mr. Metson .expressed regret at the impending departure ’of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hey from the district, and several speakers referred to their valuable work for the church...

The following Sunday school reports were submitted:—Hawera: Mr. J. W. Archbold was appointed superintendent. Regret was expressed at the departure of Mrs. Tobeck and a welcome was extended to Mr. G. McConnell, who had assumed charge of. a.class. Normanby: : The attendance was not up to the standard of last year, chiefly on account of sickness. The annual picnic was held at Ohawe, and there was a good attendance. Ohangai: Gdod results were shown during the quarter. The attendance was not as good as last year’s, as some of the Maori scholars were attendjpg the • school at the pa. Meremere: There were 15 -.girls and-10 boys on the roll. The seventh' anniversary of the school was -held' recently, a feature being the singing by the children’s:choir. Reports were received from the Whareroa, Tawhiti and Ohawe schools, and all showed good progress. On behalf of the young women’s Bible class Miss C. Squire reported that there wei'e 15 senior, five intermediate and 11 junior members. The young men’s Bible class report showed a membership of 12 senior and 10 junior. Church services had been taken at Hawera, Eltham, Kaponga and Normanby. There were splendid attendances at church, reported the Young Worshippers’ League.
