Auckland, April 13.

Sang Fong, aged 23 years, a Chinese gardener, was sentenced to six months imprisonment, to be followed by twelve months’ reformative detention by Mr. F. K Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. He pleaded guilty to three charges of obtaining sums totalling £l2 10s by falsely representing to persons to whom he sold pakapoo tickets that they had won large prizes and wanted the money to pay commission to a pakapoo banker. People who gave him money did not receive prizes.
