ABSENCE OF OFFICERS
DEPARTMENTAL ACTING-HEADS.
By Telegraph—Press Association,
Wellington, Last Night.
The substitution of the word “commissioner” for “inspector” in a telegraphed statement attributed to the Minister of Finance has resulted in a misconception regarding the arrangements to fill the position of Mr. P. Verschaffelt,. Public Service Commissioner, during his absence from New Zealand.
Mr. Verschaffelt’s place will be taken, as previously announced officially, by Mr. A. D. Thomson, with Mr. T. Mark as acting- public service commissioner, while Mr. P. G. Pearce, Under-Secretary of Native Affairs, will act as public service inspector and his former duties will, it is understood, be taken over in the meantime by Mr. O. N. Campbell, Commissioner of Small Farms.
