SCOUTING AT OPUNAKE
MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Opunake boy scouts’ committee was held on Thursday night. The Rev. Mr. Woods presided, and others present were Mesdames Byars, Mitchell, Miss Cook, Messrs. Coad, R. Campbell, C. Burton and W. Haggitt. * Mr. Haggitt was appointed secretary in lieu of Mr. Williams, who resigned. A letter was received from the district commissioner in reference to the chain of bonfires in connection with the King’s jubilee on May 6. The Opunake troop is to continue the chain. The scoutmaster and assistant were appointed to attend a conference meeting at Hawera in May. The scoutmaster, Mr. J. Bell, reported that he had a good troop under tuition. The first qhurch parade would be held in May.
