AMATEUR CYCLING
WINTER SEASON ROAD RACING. PROGRAMME FOR FIRST SERIES. A decision to continue road racing during the winter was reached at a meeting of the New Plymouth Amateur Cycling Club on Friday night, when Mr. J. W. Hollows presided over a good attendance. Three series of races’ will be run during the months of June, July, August and. September, the entry fee to be Is per rider per race. Mr. C. H. Stephenson was appointed handicapper and Mr. M. Chatteris' official recorder.
The following races were decided upon for the first series:—
June 1: Sealed handicap, Windy Point to Oakura and back. June 8:-Waitara and back. •June 15: Avenue Road, to Inglewood and back through Lepperton. June 22:. Onaero factory and back. Messrs. Charteris, Batten and C. Hawkins were appointed a sub-committee to bring down recommendations for the second series.
The following officials were appointed: Dr. G. H. Thomson and Messrs. A. C. Saddler, D. Saunders, W. Reid and C. H. Hawkins.
It was decided to recommend the executive of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club to go into tire question of organising a round the mountain amateur cycling race.
