COMING-OF-AGE AT OEO.

MISS EDNA JONES HONOURED. The Oeo hall presented a very animated scene on Tuesday evening, the occasion being the coming-of-age party of Miss Edna Jones, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Jones, Oea. There were over 100 present from many parts of Taranaki, Hunterville and Hastings. To receive the guests Mrs. Jones wore a black striped marocain frock finished with buttons and white bow at the neck. The guest. of the evening chose a tomato red frock cut on classical lines. She was presented with a posy of pale shaded chrysanthemums and asparagus fern, and received numerous gifts. The greater part of the evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Mrs. Attrill, with extras by Mrs. Whalen and Messrs. K. and J. Davis. Prizes for

euchre were won by Miss Forsythe and Mr. F. Simpson, and a lucky spot waltz was won by Miss H. Wilson and Mr. A. Davis (Manaia). Mr. B. Badland was master of ceremonies. Several items were given by Mrs. N. G. Smith (Hawera) and Messrs. Evans and B. Badland (Manaia), songs, and Mr. K. Davis (Manaia), pianoforte solo. Following supper the guest of the evening performed the ceremony of cutting the two-tier cake, Mr. W,_ Walker proposing the toast. Mr. F. Muggeridge proposed the. toast of the parents, and both toasts were drunk with musical honours and responded to by Mr. Jones.
